Happy Anniversary to us!!

Yesterday was our first wedding anniversary. I can't believe its been a year already. The actually wedding seems like it was a long time ago because it happened so fast but it feels like the year went by quickly.

We originally had a hotel room on Daytona Beach and were going to spend the weekend there hanging out by the beach, shopping, and eating. After the surgery however the doctor said no sun and no water which kind of put a cramp in our plans. We cancelled our reservations and decided that we would postpone our trip. Instead we hung out during the day and we went to a really nice dinner at Capital Grill. It was absolutely amazing. The service was wonderful and the food was delicious. When the waitress sat us they had rose petals on the table for us and gave us 2 complimentary glasses of champagne to toast the special occasion with. After dinner they also bought us dessert and took a photo so we would have something to remember the special night with.

Thank You Cakes

I wanted to do something nice for the fire department that picked me up last week and transported me to the hospital and for Joe's fire department who gave Joe the day off to be with me when I had the surgery. I thought what do men love? CAKE!!! I made each department their own Maltese Cross Cake.

This one went to Joe's station

Station 65 is the one who transported me and fed me the good drugs :)

Surgery Update

Let me start by thanking everyone for sending all their get-well wishes. The flowers, cards, phone calls, text messages, and visitors all meant alot to me. I am doing much better. The pain is not as bad now, it's just uncomfortable because my stomach is swollen. I have been up and walking around (slowly though, I look like an old lady). I made my first outing yesterday. Joe took me to get a smoothie and then today he took me to Costco. I go to the doctor's for a follow-up on Monday and I plan to request "light duty" so I can get back to work on Wednesday. I'm bored at home and need some interaction. The doctor will also take the bandages off Monday so I can see the damage they did to me. It shouldn't be too bad though.

Joe's 2nd job

Joe and JJ both found out friday night that they had a hidden talent. They were so good at this that they decided to get second jobs on their off days from the fire station. They are true performers!! See video below of their big debut. Their parents should be proud. I know I am :) Make sure your volume is turned on for this.

I was just kidding about them getting second jobs

JJ's 30th Birthday

Even though JJ's birthday isn't until April 10 we celebrated his 30th Birthday a little early. This weekend was the only time everyone could get together. He had friends come from all over for the big event. His dad even flew in from Virginia and surprised him. We stayed at the Royal Pacific Hotel at Universal and spent last night at City Walk. We went to Pat O'Brien's, Rising Star Karaoke, and Red Coconut. Today we all went to breakfast and hung out by the pool. Joe and I had to leave early because we have to work tomorrow but everyone else went to Islands of Adventure and Universal around 5pm today and stayed around for Universal's Mardi Gras performance.

City Walk

Tiffany's birthday is Monday so she and 2 of her friends came to Orlando for the weekend to celebrate. We started our evening last night with a 5 star dinner at CiCi's Pizza. I think we were a tad over dressed for the joint. Then we went to City Walk which is right outside of Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure. We went to Pat O'Brien's first which is a dueling piano bar. That was alot of fun. We sang along, made fun of people, and just let our hair down. Then we went to Rising Star which is a Karaoke bar. It was so cool. It was like watching American Idol live. You sign up to sing a song and you are given a live band, back up singers and dancers. It's the real deal. The people are pretty good to. We were hoping for some bad ones so we could make fun of people. But I think with the band and extra singers it makes anyone sound good. If you are wondering if any of us sang...we did not.

The rest of the night is a secret. What happens in City Walk, stay in City Walk. :)

Nicole's baby shower

On February 21 I co-hosted a baby shower for my good friend Nicole. We had the shower at her sister-in-law's house. It was alot of fun. We had lots of good food, games, presents, and company. We played a sock matching game where there was a bucket of socks that all looked similar and you had a minute to match up as many socks as possible and clothes pin them together. Another fun game was the rice game. There was a bowl of rice with a bunch of safety pins in it. You had a minute to find as many safety pins as you could. You have to close you eyes as well. It sounds easy but I dare you to try it. Its hard. You can't feel the pins in all the grains of rice. I almost forgot about the cake. Her sister-in-law and I made the cake ourselves. I worked mostly on the fondant and hand cut all the shapes. I was quite proud of the way it turned out.

The glowing mother at her shower. Baby Drew is due April 14th

The Cake!

We also gave out star and moon shaped cookie cutters as favors.

As usual I forgot my camera this day and took all the pictures with Nicole's camera. These are the only pics she sent me so far. When she sends me the rest of the pictures I will post some more.
